Super Star and Starting School

It's Saturday and time for a new sketch challenge from Paper Craft Planet. This week Jessica is our hostess. The sketch she shared is perfect for the smaller images in your stamp collection.

I went for a masculine look on my version of the sketch. I used a trio of ball images from Papertrey Ink's Have a Ball set. I stamped the solid images in pigment inks for a rich look. The sentiment comes from the coordinating All-Star Team Additions stamp set. The panels are punched out with a square punch and arranged on an orange label die cut.

I used a striped patterned paper from the Lil Robots Collection from My Mind's Eye for the bottom panel on the kraft card base. A piece of brown cardstock runs across the top of the panel and the label die cut is layered over that.

I added a brown grosgrain bow, made with the Bow Easy, to the top of the label panel. I know a bow isn't the most masculine embellishment, but I did use brown--LOL! I tried to use twill, but it didn't tie as nicely as the grosgrain. I may go back and add a small metallic star brad to each end of the brown strip. That might up the masculine-ness just a bit.

If you play along with this week's sketch, be sure to upload your card to the PCP gallery with the keyword sk050110 so it can be added to the album with the rest of the cards based on the sketch.

Materials Used:
All-Star Team Additions and Have a Ball stamp sets, Orange Zest ink, Orange Zest cardstock (Papertrey Ink); Chocolate Chip Craft ink, Chocolate Chip and Kraft cardstock, square punch, Chocolate Chip grosgrain ribbon (Stampin' Up!); Tuxedo Black ink (Memento); designer paper (My Mind's Eye-Lil' Robots Collection Kit); Labels 1 die (Nestabilities); Bow Easy

Today was a big day in our house. Chloe the cutie puppy started puppy kindergarten today at the pet store near our house. She's in a class with 3 other adorable pups. She was definitely the liveliest one of the bunch! We practiced sitting, lying down, and walking side by side. All of those were somewhat challenging for my strong-willed and active little one. She did enjoy playing with the other pups and seemed to do that nicely. She really likes interacting with other dogs and people, too.

I haven't posted a photo of her in a while, so I figured I'd share one today to mark this special event. She's about 3 1/2 months now and growing so fast! When I took her to the vet on Tuesday, she weighed in at 20 pounds--a 3 pound gain from the week before. We don't go back for a few weeks now, so if she keeps this up, I can only imagine what she'll weigh then!
