Having A Ball

Here’s my final project for my “tryout” for SCS's summer clean and simple challenge design team. The challenge was to create a card inspired by water.

I’ve had this card idea in my head for a while, so this was the perfect opportunity to try it out. I made a simple summer beach scene that features a fun, bright beach ball. The sand is simply two torn strips of kraft cardstock, brushed with a white pigment ink pad. The strips are layered on a blue “sky” panel. The beach ball image from the Summer Sand set from Clear & Simple Stamps is colored with Copic markers and coated with some Glossy Accents for a shiny look. It’s set on the scene with foam tape.

I stamped the set’s “having a ball” sentiment on a scrap of red cardstock. It’s accented with a blue button, threaded with a piece of red grosgrain ribbon. I layered the sentiment on a kraft strip, then attached it to the card so that it overlapped the top of the scene. Clean, simple, and summery with lots of open space (just how I like my beaches . . .). I thought this would make a fun missing you card with a “wish you were here” message written inside.

Materials Used:
Summer Sand stamp set, Perfect Little Black Dress ink, Copic markers, A Blanc Check cardstock (Clear & Simple Stamps); Real Red, Kraft, and Bashful Blue cardstock, Real Red grosgrain ribbon (Stampin’ Up!); Fresh Snow ink, Enchanted Evening button (Papertrey Ink); Glossy Accents (Ranger); foam tape
