The first features a hula dancer image on a beachy background. The clouds were made with a new "build a cloud" stamp—the easiest way to make a cloudy background ever! Just stamp the image randomly on your panel to get a great cloud-filled sky in no time at all. I used some torn edged kraft strips, brushed with white pigment ink, along the bottom of the cloud stamped panel to make a sandy beach. The colored dancer image is set on the panel using foam tape.
I used a fun floral paper across the top of the cardfront. The shape of the flowers seemed kind of tropical and beachy to me. I added a layered felt and button sun at the top of the panel and a coordinating orange ribbon knotted around the middle of the card. The “another day in paradise” sentiment from the Tropics Sentiments 1 set fit perfectly at the bottom of the card.
Materials Used:
Juniper and Jupiter Go to the Beach and Tropics Sentiments 1 sets, Build a Cloud stamp (Starving Artistamps); white cardstock (Taylored Expressions); Tuxedo Black ink (Memento); markers (Copic); Bashful Blue Classic ink, Pumpkin Pie and Kraft cardstock (Stampin’ Up!); Fresh Snow ink, twine (Papertrey Ink); Mango Luau Dude designer paper (Bo Bunny); petite oval dies (Spellbinders); orange grosgrain ribbon (Michaels); sun die (My Favorite Things); felt; foam tape
I went masculine on this one, using the set’s surfer image. He’s colored with Copic markers and cut out, then set against a bold star patterned circle. Instead of a straight strip behind the surfer, I used a wave-shaped strip to add interest. I attached a coordinating red strip at the bottom of the wave and tied a piece of twine around it for another masculine touch. The “dude!” sentiment is stamped directly on the wave panel with black ink.
