Mark's Finest Papers Circle Challenge

Mark's Finest Papers gave the Paper Craft Planet Supernovas a challenge -- create a project, any project, but it must feature circles. We were up for the task. I have two projects with circles to share with you today.

I used the pretty Ladybugs & Carnation set for my cards. I started with this simple but elegant thank you card. For my circle on this card, I used the spotlighting technique. I stamped the carnation and butterfly image on a white panel using black ink, then stamped the image a second time. I used a circle punch to punch out just a portion of the image, making sure to get both the butterfly and a section of the carnation on to the punched piece. I used Copic markers to color the smaller circle, layered it on a pink circle, then put it in place on the larger image. It’s hard to see in my photo, but I spritzed the butterfly with some shimmer spray for a subtle sparkle.

I matted the image on matching pink paper, then placed it on a yellow card base. A strip of pink gingham paper runs across the bottom of the image. I added a matching pink satin ribbon to the top of the patterned paper along with a pretty bow. The set’s “thank you” sentiment is stamped underneath the bow. A strip of eyelet lace border under the edge of the patterned paper finished off the card.

Materials Used:
Ladybugs & Carnation stamp set (Mark’s Finest Papers); white cardstock (Taylored Expressions); Memento Tuxedo Black ink, Sparkle Shimmer Spritz (Tsukineko); markers (Copic); Pretty in Pink and Barely Banana cardstock, Eyelet border punch, corner rounder (Stampin’ Up!); circle dies (Nestabilities); Quite Contrary designer paper (My Mind’s Eye); pink satin ribbon (Michaels)

This one’s a quick, clean and simple one that uses a circle as the focal image. I stamped the large ladybug image in black ink and colored it with Copic markers. To give the ladybug’s shell a shiny look, I coated it with some Glossy Accents. The colored panel is set on a black scallop edged panel.

I layered the stamped image and matching sentiment on a red panel, embossed with dots to match the dots on the ladybug. A black satin ribbon runs across the card to break up the red just a little bit. The fun sentiment is stamped in red and attached with foam tape.

Materials Used:
Ladybugs & Carnation stamp set (Mark’s Finest Papers); white cardstock (Taylored Expressions); Tuxedo Black ink (Memento); markers (Copic); Real Red and Basic Black cardstock (Stampin’ Up!); Polka Dotsembossing folder (Cuttlebug); circle and scalloped circle dies (Nestabilities); black satin ribbon (Target)

OK, now it's your turn! Make a card with a circle on it and you could win the Apples and Camellia Stamp Set from Mark's Finest Papers. All you need to do is tag your card "mfp01" and upload it to the Planet. We'll be keeping an album for everyone that shows off all the entries so far!
