Mercy's Tuesday Sketch Challenge #90

I'm thrilled to be joining Mercy's Muses for the month of September! I've enjoyed playing along with Mercy's sketch challenges right from the start, so I was really excited and honored when Mercy asked if I'd like to play along with the Muses for this month's challenges.

Here's a look at this week's sketch.

And, here's my card based on the sketch. I needed a birthday card, so I made a monochromatic pink one featuring one of the adorable a la Mode images from My Favorite Things. I colored the girl with Copic markers, then stamped the image a second time. This time, I colored only the cake portion of the image, cut it out, and attached it to the other image using foam tape. After I photographed the card, I went back and added some pink Liquid Pearl dots to the cake's icing as embellishment (I meant to take another photo, but time got away from me . . .).

I kept the focus on the girl by using a trio of solid cardstock strips for the panels that run across the bottom part of the card. I went for a gradient look, picking three different shades of pink. They're machine stitched along the left edge to pull them together. I added the matted image over the strips and accented the panel with a coordinating pink button. The "time to celebrate" sentiment finished the card.

If you play along, be sure to stop by Mercy's blog and add a link to your creation. And, if you upload your card to a public gallery, be sure to use the keyword MTSC90 so everyone can find it. Don't miss what the rest of the super talented Muses have created using this sketch! Here's where to find them:
