Fall Inspired

I’m working my way through Verve’s release challenge sketches. I combined the first two sketches with color challenges for these cards with a fall feel.

The first card features Verve’s adorable Hello Pumpkin set. I’d forgotten about the little cutie in this set—so glad I inked it up for this card! I used the colors from this week’s Crazy 4 Challenges color challenge, substituting Old Olive for Wild Wasabi since I don’t have any of that.

The image is colored with Copic markers and I added a yellow glow around it. I think I may have liked it better without the glow, but it’s too late for that now. I added the coordinating “hello pumpkin” sentiment along the side of the image panel.

The rest of the card is very simple—love the sketch! I used a piece of fun patterned paper with most of the challenge colors in it to cover the kraft card base, then added scraps of So Saffron and Old Olive along the left side of the card. After I attached the image panel, I ran a strip of pumpkin grosgrain ribbon across the cardfront, finishing it off with a button-embellished bow.

Materials Used:
Little Pumpkin stamp set (Verve Stamps); white cardstock (Couture cardstock); Tuxedo Black ink (Memento); markers (Copic); Crumb Cake, So Saffron, and Old Olive cardstock (Stampin’ Up!); Harvest Holiday matstack (Cloud 9); orange grosgrain ribbon (Michaels); Orange Zest button, twine (Papertrey Ink)

This card uses the second sketch along with this week’s Curtain Call Color Challenge colors. I randomly stamped the line image flowers from Great Friend in More Mustard and Dusty Durango (substituting for Cajun Craze), then went back and added some leaves using Old Olive. I inked the edges of the vanilla panel with Crumb Cake ink before layering it on a kraft mat.
I wrapped a strip of olive grosgrain ribbon around the layered panels, then added the birthday sentiment. I found a narrower but matching grosgrain ribbon in my scrap pile to use for the bow accent at the top of the sentiment panel. The completed panel is layered on a More Mustard card base that’s covered with a panel of SU!’s retired Haiku designer paper.

I’ll be back later in the week with my cards for the remaining three challenge sketches.

Materials Used:
Great Friend and Big Wish stamp sets (Verve Stamps); More Mustard, Dusty Durango, Old Olive, and Crumb Cake Classic inks, More Mustard, Very Vanilla, and Crumb Cake cardstock, Haiku designer series paper (Stampin’ Up!); petite oval and petite scalloped oval dies (Spellbinders); olive green grosgrain ribbon (Morex); foam tape
