Blogger Challenge: Week 176/Friends with Flair

This week’s blogger challenge theme is to make a patriotic card in honor of Veteran’s Day. I made a simple thank you card in patriotic colors for the challenge.

I used a die to cut a large star for my focal image. The star is distressed and paper pierced along the edges. I debated about using a white pen to add faux stitches, but decided against it in the end.

To add interest to the simple design, I used Unity's Worn Grid background stamp to add a pattern to the kraft card base. The star is attached directly to the cardfront. I used a scrap of red grosgrain ribbon and one of the “thanks” sentiments from the Thank You Words kit for the sentiment flag. The text has a kind of distressed look, so it was a good match for the look I was going for. It’s attached with redline tape to get the wavy look. I anchored the end of the sentiment flag to the star with a button that was knotted with red baker’s twine.

For more patriotic projects, you can check out what the rest of the challenge players have created. Links to their blogs are in the sidebar on the right. And, for more Unity inspiration, visit the list of Friends with Flair players on the Unity blog.
