Drucilla Meets Mercy

Here’s a fun card I made combining Mercy’s 100th sketch challenge with this week’s Kraftin’ Kimmie's funky fibers challenge.

I started by coloring the Moonlight Whispers Drucilla image with Copic markers. For some sparkle and shine, I added some Stickles and some new Rouge Liquid Pearls to the image. The new reformulated Liquid Pearls are super shiny and vivid—love them! I used the out of the box technique to cut out the colored image, letting some of Drucilla’s wild hair extend beyond the image panel. It was a pain to do, but I like the way it ended up looking.

I used a piece of heart patterned paper from BoBunny’s Crush line for the panel that runs across the card. I matted the image on a gray panel, then wrapped a red grosgrain ribbon around it. A button-embellished bow dresses up the ribbon. I used some baker’s twine to attach the button to the ribbon—I’m using this as my fibers for the challenge since I don’t have any other kind of fancy fibers to use. I kept the rest of the card simple, choosing solid colors for layers and mats to coordinate with the patterned paper.

Materials Used:
Moonlight Whispers Drucilla image (Kraftin’ Kimmie Stamps); white cardstock (Couture Cardstock); Tuxedo Black ink (Memento); markers (Copic); Pretty in Pink, Real Red, and Basic Gray cardstock (Stampin’ Up!); Crush 6x6 paper pad (BoBunny); petite oval dies (Spellbinders); red grosgrain ribbon (Michaels); button, baker’s twine (Papertrey Ink); Ruby Slippers Glitz Stickles, Rouge Liquid Pearls (Ranger)
