My card is based on this week’s Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge. The sketch’s large round panel was the perfect setting for the owl and branch image from the What a Hoot kit. In keeping with the earth-toned color scheme, I used a kraft panel as a backdrop for the owl and branch. The branch is stamped directly on the panel in brown ink and the owl is stamped on a piece of patterned paper from Basic Grey’s Origins line. The paper’s grid pattern was a quick way to add detail to the image without having to color it. It’s hard to see in the photo, but I added a drop of Glossy Accents to the owl’s eyes for some texture and dimension before putting the owl on the branch with a dimensional dot.
I love the fun sentiments that come along with the What a Hoot kit, but I didn’t have enough room on my image panel to squeeze one of them in. So, I took a look through my Unity collection and came across the “guess whooooo?” sentiment from April’s Stampin’ Store Kit. It worked perfectly with the image and fit nicely underneath the branch.
I used a combination of green and yellow patterned papers from Echo Park’s Little Boy Collection kit for the panels underneath the image. I machine stitched around the larger panel to give it a somewhat defined border. A pair of fun trims in green (twill) and yellow (velvet) run along the seam between the two papers.
