Lovebug
Here’s my card for this week’s My Favorite Things Wednesday Stamp Club sketch. I used the sweet Pure Innocence Ladybug set for my perfect for Valentine’s Day card.
I colored the little bug with Copic markers and drew in some grass under her feet. Her wings are covered with Dazzling Diamonds for a pretty sparkle.
I used a mix of patterned papers from two different collections for the rest of the card. The hearts and grid patterns are from a K & Company paper pad. The text paper is from a BoBunny pad. It took way longer than it should have to pull them all together . . . Once I’d finalized my paper decisions, I added a little rose ribbon to cover the seams between the papers and assembled the layers. I used a pair of felt hearts at the top left corner of the image panel. Not seeing all of the red heart bothered me, so I compromised and layered a smaller pink one on top of it—much better! To fit my design, I modified one of the set’s sentiments. I omitted some words and letters to get the “lovebug” sentiment that's stamped on a notch-edged panel. A cute little red button tied with some pink baker's twine finishes things off.
Materials Used:
Pure Innocence Ladybug stamp set, Die-Namics heart die (My Favorite Things); white cardstock (Taylored Expression); Tuxedo Black ink (Memento); markers (Copic); Riding Hood Red Classic ink, Riding Hood Red and Pink Pirouette cardstock, Regal Rose grosgrain ribbon, Dazzling Diamonds (Stampin’ Up!); A to KaZoo designer papers (K & Company); Crush paper pad (BoBunny); Pure Poppy button (Papertrey Ink); pink baker’s twine (Divine Twine); felt
