A Warm Hello
I'm not a big coffee or tea drinker, but it doesn't stop me from using coffee- or tea-related stamps. I just imagine the mug contains something more to my liking, like hot chocolate! And, for the most part, stamp sets like these have some more general sentiments, so I just stick to those, like I did here on these two cards using images from The Cat's Pajamas.
I don’t shy away from bold colors in my card making, so this week’s TCP Tuesday color challenge to use red, yellow, black and kraft or white was a fun one for me. I used the sweet You Suit Me set along with red and yellow patterned papers from Cosmo Cricket’s Togetherness line for my card.
I colored the little girl image using Copic markers. I love the bold red and yellow combo! The steam coming from her mug is sprinkled with Dazzling Diamonds for a fun touch. I outlined the image in pale yellow for a soft, glowy look.
The rest of the card is pretty simple. I used black mats underneath all of the layers—it really set them off nicely. The set’s “a warm hello” sentiment is stamped on a kraft panel and tucked underneath the image panel. I added a red felt heart, accented with a black button tied up with a little yellow baker’s twine, as an accent. Yes, it's bright, but I'm really happy with this one!
Materials Used:
You Suit Me stamp set (The Cat’s Pajamas); white cardstock (Taylored Expressions); Tuxedo Black ink (Memento); markers (Copic); Daffodil Delight, Basic Black, and Crumb Cake cardstock, Dazzling Diamonds (Stampin’ Up!); Togetherness designer paper (Cosmo Cricket); Pure Poppy felt (Papertrey Ink); circle dies (Spellbinders); heart die (My Favorite Things); baker’s twine (The Twinery)
And while I had my TCP stamps out, I made another card, this one for this month’s Sketch for You to Try. I used the little boy from Like You a Latte as the focal image along with some leftover Echo Park paper pieces.
The little boy is colored with Copic markers and cut out. I used foam tape to set him on a cream panel, then stamped the “you warm my heart” sentiment alongside him in red ink.
I used both patterns from a piece of patterned paper from Echo Park’s Merry Christmas collection for the panels on the cardfront. Even though it’s designed as a holiday paper, I think it still works for other occasions. I layered the panels on dark brown mats to set them off from the cardfront. The red panel is embossed with a dotted pattern to add some texture. After assembling the pieces, I added a red felt heart, this time with a layered button accent. Love the warm, toasty feel of both of the finished cards!
Materials Used:
Like You a Latte stamp set (The Cat’s Pajamas); white cardstock (Taylored Expressions); Tuxedo Black ink (Memento); markers (Copic); Riding Hood Red Classic ink, Riding Hood Red, Early Espresso,Very Vanilla, and Crumb Cake cardstock (Stampin’ Up!); Merry Christmas designer paper (Echo Park); Pure Poppy felt, heart die, buttons, baker’s twine (Papertrey Ink); Polka Dots embossing folder (Sizzix); foam tape
