Blue Bird Thank You

Here's my card for this week's Paper Craft Planet sketch challenge. Wendy's designed a great sketch for us that features a fun, fancy cut edge.

I used the sketch to make a spring-like thank you card featuring Papertrey Ink's Little Bitty Bird stamp set. I stamped the bird and branch image in brown ink on an aqua card base. A felt die cut bird covers the stamped image and adds texture, too. The bird has a teeny, tiny crystal eye for a little bit of sparkle. I added a pair of die cut white felt clouds to the scene to fill up the empty space.

I used a trio of scraps for the strips along the bottom half of the card. I went with a solid green for the top strip, partly because it looks like a grassy base underneath my image and partly because I wanted to stamp my sentiment so it could be seen. The sentiment I used is from the Fillable Frames #5 set. I attached a strip of Happy Spots patterned paper beneath the green and tied a Hawaiian Shores satin ribbon between the two. The bottom strip is more Hawaiian Shores, cut with a decorative edge die to create the card's fancy edge.

I hope you'll join us for this week's challenge. If you try out the sketch, be sure to add a direct link to your creation here on the Paper Craft Planet blog.
