Oh Happy Day!

Today, several members of the i {heart} papers design team are playing along with this week’s Our Craft Lounge challenge to CASE an OCL card. Each IHP design team member has selected a set that’s available at IHP to use for their card.

I used the Pat the Good Dog set and created my card based on this one created by Kendra. I loved her card's fun fold that combined elements of an easel card with ones from a tent topper style. I kept most of her design the same, just switching out the images and papers used on my version.

I colored Pat the dog with Copic markers and cut him out with an oval die. It's hard to see in the photo, but I sponged around him with a little blue ink to make a sky-like background. I would have used my airbrush, but Chloe the cutie puppy was fast asleep right by my air compressor and there was no way I was waking her up to use it! Over the past year, I've learned the hard way that just like babies, you should always let a sleeping puppy lie.

Pat is set on a cardfront that’s covered with two panels of My Mind’s Eye designer paper. The split between the two panels is where the cardfront is scored so that it will fold up, easel style. The score line is hidden by a scalloped strip that I dressed up with a piece of coordinating orange ribbon.

For the inside of the card, I used another pattern from the same paper collection to line the bottom edge of the card. I stamped the set’s “oh happy day!” sentiment along the bottom edge of the patterned paper strip and added a brad to each side of the cardstock panel to hold the card in place when it’s opened. I'll definitely be using this fold again!
