Blogger Challenge: Week 199
This week’s blogger challenge is a super versatile sketch. I recently got some new stamps from Paper Smooches and I inked them up for the challenge.
I stamped one of the retro TV set images on a piece of silver cardstock, then cut it out, using a craft knife to cut out the inside “screen” part. For the knobs, I added two black brads, giving the image a little dimension. A piece of acetate is secured to the back of the image, making a glassy covering for the opening I cut. After figuring out where I wanted to place the image on the white panel, I stamped the “tune in” sentiment in red ink where the TV screen opening would be, then attached the cutout image.
I used a piece of patterned paper with a bold chevron pattern for the panel on the left side of the card. The pattern kind of reminded me of the pattern you’d see on a TV when the picture was fuzzy (before we all had digital and cable TV and depended on regular old antennas to tune in . . .). I matted it on a coordinating green panel before setting it on the cardfront. For texture and interest, I combined a strip of grosgrain ribbon with a strip of paper pierced red cardstock and stretched the pair along the length of the card. After adding the image panel to the cardfront, I accented it with a green button tied with coordinating baker’s twine.

Cute card. The background paper is perfect for the image...it reminds me of when the TV antenna wasn't picking up a signal and all you got were wavy lines! Now I really dated my self! Fantastic card!
