Welcome Baby Bear

This week's TCP Tuesday challenge was to create a baby card in honor of Cat Pack member Tracy's new baby boy. I used a non-baby set to make this sweet baby card.

I used the adorable bear from the Bear Hugs set as my focal image. The bear is colored with Copic markers and cut out. The heart is paper pieced using a scrap of the same paper I used to cover most of the cardfront. The image is attached to an aqua panel with foam tape.

I used up a bunch of scraps for the strips underneath the image panel. I went for contrasting colors and textures, using an embossed piece, a strip of twill, and a scallop edged piece. The pieces are attached to a dotted panel with machine stitched edges. I stamped the "welcome baby" sentiment from the And Baby Makes . . . set on a circle in orange ink. After adding it to the card, I accented it with a small orange button, tied up with baker's twine. The colors are a little non-traditional, but I think it makes a sweet baby card.

Materials Used:

Bear Hugs and And Baby Makes . . . stamp sets, orange Divine Twine (The Cat's Pajamas); white cardstock (Taylored Expressions); Memento Tuxedo Black ink (Tsukineko); Aqua Mist cardstock, scallop die, Orange Zest button (Papertrey Ink); Pumpkin Pie Classic ink, Pumpkin Pie and Crumb Cake cardstock (Stampin' Up!); Stella and Rose-Hazel paper pad (My Mind's Eye); circle dies (Spellbinders); twill (Wrights); Polka Dots embossing folder (Sizzix); foam tape; sewing machine
