Chillaxin' Again

I’m loving the Chillaxin’ set from Market Street Stamps! I created this card based on their latest challenge, a sketch with a twist of using a spray mist. I have a collection of these mists, but I have to admit that I haven’t had much luck with using them. I’m happy with how this attempt came out—maybe this will be the push I needed to use them more often . . .

I made my spray misted panel first. I die cut a few cloud shapes from small sticky notes and randomly arranged them on a white panel. I set the paper in a small plastic container, then in the bathroom sink (don’t want my house—or, more importantly, Chloe the cutie puppy—to be covered in errant mist!), then sprayed away with a pale sparkly blue color. Once the mist had set a little, I peeled off the sticky notes, revealing a pretty summer sky.

I used the shimmery panel to create a simple beach scene. After layering the panel on a yellow mat and on a blue card base, I attached a strip of torn kraft paper at the bottom. The paper’s torn edge was rubbed with some cream ink for a sandy look. I stamped the set’s coconut tree image and colored it in, then cut it out and set it on the scene with foam tape. I tied some yellow baker’s twine through a matching button and added it as the sun. The “chillaxin’” sentiment, stamped in blue chalk ink, completed the scene.

Materials Used:
Chillaxin’ stamp set (Market Street Stamps); white cardstock (Taylored Expressions); Memento Tuxedo Black ink (Tsukineko); markers (Copic); Vintage Cream ink, Hawaiian Shores and Harvest Gold cardstock, Lemon Tart button (Papertrey Ink); Crumb Cake cardstock (Stampin’ Up!); Seafoam chalk ink (Recollections); Seafoam Shimmerz Spritz (Shimmerz); yellow baker’s twine (The Twinery); foam tape
