Our Craft Lounge Visits the Play Date Cafe

Our Craft Lounge is sponsoring this week’s challenge at the Play Date CafĂ©. Here’s this week’s challenge color story.

I was inspired by the pretty colors and the delicate images. The gradient sunset with its deep purples and oranges especially caught my eye as did the little bundles of twine. I tried to incorporate a few of those elements in my car using images from the Butterfly Kisses set.

I colored the butterfly in shades of orange (with a little brown) Copic markers and cut it out, then sprayed it with a little gold shimmer spray for a soft sparkle. After stamping the set’s square outline image, I airbrushed the panel with several different Copic markers for a gradient look, then cut it out. I stamped the set’s “butterfly kisses” sentiment in Grape Jelly ink at the bottom of the panel before attaching the butterfly image with a dimensional dot.

I machine stitched around the edges of a purple dotted panel, then added a slightly longer orange strip to the panel’s left edge before wrapping some purple baker’s twine around the panel, securing it with an orange button. After layering the panel on a soft purple card base, I added the butterfly panel to the card to complete the design.
