Primarily Kraft

This week’s SCS clean and simple challenge was to use primary colors with a kraft cardstock base. Here’s my take—a fun, easy to reproduce, color blocked birthday card.

I used squares of primary colored cardstock to form a background on a kraft card base. Once the squares were in place, I attached a small die cut kraft gift bag to the panels. I made the bag’s handles from some twine and tied a piece of red baker’s twine to the handle for a bit of color, then stuffed some torn tissue paper pieces inside the bag, just like you might see used to wrap a gift. The “for you” sentiment is stamped in red on a notch-edged strip and slipped underneath the edge of the bag. I could see making this design in a variety of colors to match gift wrap or the colors of a party theme--lots of possibilities . . .

Materials Used:
Wonderful Words Additions stamp set, twine (Papertrey Ink); Daffodil Delight, Real Red, Marina Mist, Crumb Cake, and Whisper White cardstock (Stampin’ Up!); Memento Lady Bug ink (Tsukineko); gift bag die (Taylored Expressions); Swiss Dot embossing folder (Cuttlebug); baker’s twine (Divine Twine)
