Reach for the Sky
***Scroll down to the post below to see my card for this week's Color Throwdown.***
Here's a quick card for today's SCS sketch challenge. I was going for a masculine look with the Up, Up & Away set from Papertrey Ink.
I used blue dot embossed cardstock pieces for the panels on the cardfront to create the look of a sky backdrop. After die cutting a hot air balloon, I stamped the dotted balloon and basket on the piece and used foam tape to attach it to one of the blue panels. A pair of die cut white felt clouds sits on the other blue panel, overlapping a bit onto the panel with the balloon.
I stamped the "reach for the sky" sentiment in brown ink on an olive panel. The panel stretches across the card, with the hot air balloon's basket sitting over it. The pieces are arranged on a patterned paper panel with a distressed look that gives the design a more masculine slant. The entire card took less than 30 minutes from start to finish--just what I needed after a very hectic day at work . . .
Materials Used:
Up, Up & Away and Up, Up & Away Sentiments stamp sets, Up, Up & Away and Cloud 1 & 2 dies (Papertrey Ink); Rich Cocoa ink (Tsukineko); Riding Hood Red Classic ink, So Saffron, Old Olive, and Baja Breeze cardstock (Stampin' Up!); Destinations-Flash Cards designer paper (Simple Stories); Polka Dots embossing folder (Cuttlebug); white felt; foam tape
