Sahara Sympathy

This week's CAS-ual Friday challenge was to use the sketch from the Clean and Simple Stamping blog. I used the sketch and some older Stampin' Up! stamps for this simple sympathy card.

I started with a Sahara Sand card base and added a panel of Very Vanilla cardstock along the left side. For contrast, I added a strip of olive cardstock across the vanilla panel.

Instead of stamping directly over the panel, I created a simple vellum overlay. The line image flower from the Wonderful You set is embossed in vanilla ink on the vellum panel. To add just a little contrasting color, I flipped the vellum panel over and colored in the flower petals with some YG Copic markers. After adhering the vellum panel, I stamped the "with sympathy" sentiment from the Warmest Regards set alongside the image in green ink. The result is an easy to make and, with its flat surface, easy to mail sympathy card.

Materials Used:
Wonderful You and Warmest Regards stamp sets, Very Vanilla Craft ink, Sahara Sand, Old Olive, and Very Vanilla cardstock, Vanilla embossing powder, olive twill (Stampin' Up!); Kraft Like a Rockstar Green ink (Clear and Simple Stamps); vellum (The Paper Company); markers (Copic)
