Blogger Challenge: Week 221
This week’s blogger challenge theme is “who’s got the button.” With inspiration like that, I had to come up with a sewing related card. I used the On the Mend set from Clear and Simple Stamps along with one of the matching Simple Cuts dies to create this feminine card.
I die cut the dress form from kraft cardstock, then stamped the matching dress form image on the die cut in brown ink. To get the dotted pattern, I pressed the top part of the solid image stamp on the dotted background builder image from the Dots & Lines set before stamping the image on the die cut piece—a simple way to add interest to a solid image. To bring in a little more of the sewing/stitching theme, I stamped my own patterned paper strip for along the bottom of the cardfront, using the set’s stitch image to repeatedly stamp across the strip.
I die cut a heart from a piece of plaid fabric, then machine stitched it to a cream panel. The dress form is set in place over the heart with foam tape. I added a cluster of three buttons, threaded with twine at the side of the heart. The set’s “stitched together with love” sentiment is stamped on a kraft panel and attached to the bottom of the panel with a few machine stitches at the end as an accent. After inking the panel’s edges with a little distress ink, I layered it on to a soft pink card base.
