Happy Haunting
This week’s Lawnscaping challenge is to create a card with embossing. I just got the new Happy Haunting set from i {heart} papers and couldn’t wait to try it out. I created a simple, spooky scene featuring a few of the set’s images.
I started out with a navy blue night sky and added a pair of striped paper rolling hills at the bottom. They’re machine stitched across the tops for a little contrast. The set’s tree was stamped on a scrap of white cardstock, colored with Copic markers, and cut out, then added to the scene.
I made a big moon for the sky from a die cut circle embossed with a polka dotted pattern for craters. Two of the set’s ghost images were stamped on white cardstock, then embossed with a smaller dot pattern and cut out. They’re sprayed with a little shimmer spray for a spooky sparkle. I used dimensional dots to add them to the sky. I wanted to add a few stars to the sky, but the set didn’t come with any. Fortunately, the Plus One set does, so I used it to add a few random stars twinkling in the sky.
I wrapped some yellow baker’s twine around the bottom of the card, finishing it off with a bow. The set’s “happy haunting” sentiment is stamped in dark blue ink on a yellow strip and attached over the twine. I layered the scene on a green card base--not the traditional Halloween orange, but I think it works!
Materials Used:
