Happy Birthday, Dad
My dad celebrated his birthday earlier this week and I made him this fun birthday card based on the latest Paper Smooches Sparks inspiration challenge. I used the shape of the vintage van in the photo, along with the colors and woodgrain texture as the basis for my card.
One of the television sets from the Boob Tubes set is shaped similarly to the van in the photo, so I used that as my focal image. It’s colored with Copic markers and the screen is filled in with some silver shimmery paper that’s covered with acetate. I stamped the word “dad” at the center of the screen before setting the acetate in place. The knobs are coated with a little white Enamel Accents for a dimensional look.
The television is set on a simple backdrop made from a pair of papers from a Jillibean Soup pad. I picked a woodgrain one in a nod to the tree trunk in the photo and an orange one to match the color of the van. I added a corduroy ribbon tab with a button and baker’s twine embellishment along the left side, then stamped the “happy birthday” sentiment from the Sentiment Sampler set in the open space. After layering the panel on a dark brown mat, I set it on a kraft card base. I hope he likes it!
Materials Used:
from i {heart} papers: Paper Smooches Boob Tubes and Sentiment Sampler stamp sets, X-Press white Copic blending cardstock, Tsukineko Memento Tuxedo Black ink, Copic markers (Y35, Y38, YR12, YR15, YR16, E25, E31, E33), Jillibean Soup Apple Cheddar Soup 6x6 paper pad, May Arts orange corduroy ribbon, Divine Twine orange baker’s twine, Ranger white Enamel Accents, Sticky Thumb dimensional dots
other: Crumb Cake and Chocolate Chip cardstock (Stampin’ Up!); Fine Linen button (Papertrey Ink); silver paper (Recollections); acetate
