Almost Thanksgiving Already?

Here's my card for this month's Sketch for You to Try. This month's challenge is sponsored by Verve, so I pulled out one of my favorite seasonal Verve images for the card. I can't believe it's almost Thanksgiving already! I must admit that I am looking forward to the short work week ahead, followed by the long holiday weekend.

I just love the fun pumpkin turkey from the Bountiful Harvest set, so I made it my focal image. It's stamped on a cream panel and colored with Copic markers in a range of earthy colors.

I used a pair of patterned papers from an autumn themed paper pad for the panels on the cardfront. Each panel is layered on a dark brown mat, then set on a kraft panel. I matted the image panel on the same dark brown cardstock before setting it on the cardfront.

The "Happy Thanksgiving" sentiment from the Tall Oaks set is stamped on a notch-edged kraft strip. On the stamp, the "happy" is above the "Thanksgiving," but I did a little selective inking of the image so I was able to get it in a straight line to fit the panel.

I think this card's heading to the staff at Chloe the cutie puppy's doggy day care to let them know how thankful we are that they keep a watchful eye over her while she plays with her buddies when I'm at work. Having the option to take her there a few times a week instead of having her spend every day at home alone makes me feel much better as a dog "parent."

Materials Used:
Bountiful Harvest and Tall Oaks stamp sets (Verve Stamps); cream cardstock (Taylored Expressions); Memento Tuxedo Black ink (Tsukineko); markers (Copic); Chocolate Chip and Crumb Cake cardstock (Stampin' Up!); Autumn Splendor 6x6 paper pad (WeR Memory Keepers)
