Five

A special little guy I know just turned five years old. The occasion called for a special card, so I pulled together this fun one inspired by both the fun number patterned quilt from the current Moxie Fab Tuesday Trigger (here) and this week's CAS-ual Friday challenge to use chipboard.

I started off by using an impression plate to create a number pattern on the aqua card base, echoing the numbers on the quilt in the Moxie Fab inspiration piece. The number 5 was die cut from a multicolored patterned paper scrap. I rummaged through my scrap piles to find coordinating pieces of cardstock for the card's panels and arranged them on the card base.

The "who's turning" sentiment from Papertrey Ink's Big Birthday Wishes set is stamped on the narrow, lighter orange strip. After attaching the die cut 5 to the card covering the edge of the sentiment strip, I added a super sparkly gold chipboard star as an accent. A pair of gold brads brings in one more gold element--and adds just a little more embellishment while still staying boyish!

Materials Used:
Big Birthday Wishes stamp set, Aqua Mist, Orange Zest, and Summer Sunrise cardstock, By the Numbers collection dies, By the Numbers impression plate (Papertrey Ink); Crumb Cake cardstock (Stampin' Up!); Fine & Dandy-True Blue 6x6 paper pad (My Mind's Eye); Polka Dot embossing folder (Lifestyle Crafts); circle die (Spellbinders); gold glittered chipboard star (Recollections); gold brads
