Happy Bee-Day

This week’s CAS-ual Fridays challenge is to make a clean and simple punny card. Lots of the sentiments from the Little Critters collection from Clear and Simple Stamps are perfect for this challenge (as are many of the sentiments from the upcoming release, but I can’t share those just yet . . .).

I made this simple almost single layer birthday card for the challenge using this week’s Clean and Simple Stamping sketch. It features the bee image from the Taglines: Critters set. The bee is colored with Copic markers and attached to the cardfront with foam tape. The wings are coated with super sparkly glitter for a festive touch. To add some movement to the design, I stamped a dotted trail extending out from behind the bee image.

The "happy bee-day" sentiment, created by combining bits and pieces from the Little Critters Too and Critters Sentiments sets, is stamped next to the bee's trail in black ink. I filled in the open letters using several shades of blue-green Copic markers, starting with the darkest color at the bottom of the letter and flicking the marker's tip upwards to add color, then moving on to lighter and lighter shades. The shading adds just a little interest to the letters without taking the focus off the bee.

Materials Used:
Taglines: Critters, Little Critters Too, and Critters Sentiments stamp sets, Perfect Little Black Dress ink, Trendsetter Blue and A Blanc Check cardstock, Copic markers-Y11, Y13, Y18, BG000, BG10, BG11 (Clear and Simple Stamps); Dazzling Diamonds (Stampin’ Up!); foam tape
