Welcome Baby Boy

Here’s my card for this week’s Waltzingmouse sketch challenge. I used the sketch to create a simple card to welcome a baby boy.

I combined sentiments from the new Compact Sentiments set and the Lil’ Buddies set to create the “welcome baby” focal image. The blue on blue stamped panel is set on a white scalloped circle with paper piecing at the center (or close to the center!) of each scallop. I set the panel on a strip of white cardstock stamped with one of the patterns from the Gingham and Co. set. A strip of coordinating light blue satin ribbon runs down the center of the panel. I used my Bow Easy to make a pretty matching bow to set under the sentiment.

Instead of adding another patterned paper to the mix, I embossed a piece of blue cardstock with a dotted pattern. The embossed panel is set on a light blue card base and the strip with the sentiment is attached to the panel’s center to finish the monochromatic design.

 Materials Used:
Compact Sentiments, Lil’ Buddies, and Gingham & Co. stamp sets (Waltzingmouse Stamps); Bashful Blue Classic ink, Brocade Blue, Bashful Blue, and Whisper White cardstock (Stampin’ Up!); circle and scalloped circle dies (Spellbinders); Polka Dot embossing folder (Lifestyle Crafts); light blue satin ribbon (Michaels); Bow Easy

  2. This is so cute Lori! Love the dry embossing on the background and the soft colors used on the label and strip you used. Thanks for sharing this with us at WMSC! :)
