Papertrey Ink May Blog Hop

The inspiration photo for this month’s Papertrey Ink blog hop features a green and black color scheme with some bold patterns. I took my inspiration from the colors and the look of the multiple layers of dishes stacked one on top of the other to create this birthday card.

I built the card on a Simply Chartreuse base, starting with a plain white paper doily.  The shape and the delicate edges reminded me of the look of the plate at the bottom of the stack in the inspiration photo. After running a strip of Simply Chartreuse grosgrain ribbon down the center of a strip of black and white patterned paper, I set the strip on the card, right in the middle and overlapping the doily.

For the focal image, I stamped the label from the Happy Day set on a matching die cut piece.  The set's "birthday wishes" sentiment is stamped in the center of the panel.  After setting the panel in place, I accented it with a button embellished bow.  It's been a while since I've done one of these bows and I'd forgotten how nice they look!

Materials Used:
Happy Day stamp set, Simply Chartreuse ink, Simply Chartreuse and White cardstock, Black and White Basics patterned paper, Happy Day die, Simply Chartreuse grosgrain ribbon (Papertrey Ink); Memento Tuxedo Black ink (Tsukineko); black button (Michaels); white paper doily (Wilton); black baker's twine (Divine Twine)
