That Sucks
Here’s my card for this week’s Paper Smooches Sparks designer drafts challenge. At first, this sketch had me stumped! After a little (okay, a lot!) of thought, I came up with this simple, silly card.
I used the two triangles together to make an area rug for a little scene. The golden yellow triangle is embossed with a geometric zig zag pattern, then layered over a piece of lace doily. The layered “rug” is adhered to a piece of kraft cardstock that I made into a faux woodgrain panel with some embossed lines and a little inking. To finish the scene, I added a piece of ticking-style striped designer paper as wallpaper and a narrow strip of white cardstock as molding along the bottom edge of the striped paper.
I stamped the vacuum cleaner image from the Squeaky Clean set on white paper, colored it with Copic markers, and cut it out. A piece of twine is attached to the image to act as the vacuum’s cord. The vacuum is set on the panel using dimensional dots. I stamped the set’s “that sucks” sentiment next to the vacuum in black ink.
Materials Used:
from i {heart} papers: Paper Smooches Squeaky Clean stamp set, X-Press white Copic blending cardstock, Tsukineko Memento Tuxedo Black ink, Copic markers (YR21, E31, E33, E35, W-1, W-3, W-5), Carta Bella Traditions 6x6 paper pad, Lifestyle Crafts Zig Zag embossing folder, Sticky Thumb dimensional dots
other: So Saffron cardstock (Stampin’ Up!); Kraft cardstock (Papertrey Ink); Tea Dye distress ink (Ranger); paper doily (Wilton); hemp twine (Hemptique)
