Simple Season's Greetings

As promised yesterday, I'm back with more samples for this weekend's SCS clean and simple challenge celebration.  Both of my samples use stamps from Paper Smooches and feature a snowy theme, too.

This one is for a color challenge to use red, kraft, and cream along with a twist of something sparkly.   It's also my take on the current 10 Minute Craft Dash's challenge to use red.  I put this one together in 9 minutes and 22 seconds!

I used this week's sketch from Freshly Made Sketches as my starting point.  A strip of red patterned paper runs across the cardfront and the cream sentiment panel is layered over that.  The "season's greetings" sentiment from the Paper Smooches Christmas Sampler set is stamped on one end of the cream panel in red ink.  The other end of the sentiment panel is filled with a big, sparkly die cut snowflake.  It's simple, but so eye-catching with all of the sparkle.

Materials Used:
from i {heart} papersPaper Smooches Christmas Sampler stamp set, Tsukineko Memento Lady Bug ink, Doodlebug Design North Pole 6x6 paper pad, WPlus9 Simple Snowflake die, Sticky Thumb dimensional dots

other:  Kraft cardstock (Papertrey Ink); Very Vanilla cardstock (Stampin' Up!); silver glitter paper, red button (Michaels); red velvet ruffle edge trim (Hobby Lobby); hemp twine (Hemptique); corner rounder

This one is for the challenge to create a card based on your favorite holiday song.  I used the classic Frosty the Snowman as my inspiration here.

I made a simple scene with a snow-filled sky featuring a snowman from the Paper Smooches Swanky Snowdudes stamp set.  I stamped the snowman on shimmery white cardstock and colored him with Copic markers, then set him on a snowbank made from layered strips of torn shimmery white cardstock.  The stars are stamped in silver ink for a frosty look.

Once the snowman was in place, I stamped the "be jolly" sentiment from the Christmas Sampler set at the bottom of the card in red ink, then topped the card with some super sparkly red metallic ribbon tied in a simple knot.

I'll be back tomorrow with another Paper Smooches card for this week's SPARKS challenge . . .
