Paper Smooches SPARKS February Trend Watch Challenge
This week’s Paper Smooches SPARKS challenge is a trend watch challenge featuring polka dots as seen in the photo above. My project has a much more masculine color scheme than the photo, but is filled with lots and lots of trendy dots.
I used the Cuteasaurus set to make a small scene for my focal image. The dinosaur and the tree top are paper pieced with dotted papers from the Bo Bunny Bold and Bright Double Dot 6x6 paper pad—a new arrival at i {heart} papers. I used dimensional dots to adhere the tree top to the kraft tree trunk. I distressed the trunk by inking it a bit with some distress inks. The tree top was unexpectedly distressed when Chloe the cutie puppy chewed on it a bit, but fortunately not enough to damage it. The paper pieced images are adhered to a piece of dotted paper with a piece of torn kraft paper at the bottom as the ground. I added a die cut fluffy white felt cloud with a baker's twine-tied button sun peeking out from behind the treetop as a whimsical touch.
I set a piece of orange dot embossed cardstock at an angle over a strip of green cardstock adhered to a light blue card base, then added the scene on top. The set’s “cheer up grumpasaurus” sentiment is stamped on a kraft notch-ended panel and layered over the cardfront.
