Sew Much

This week’s Paper Smooches SPARKS challenge is a picture perfect challenge. Though my design bears little resemblance to the inspiration photo, I promise that I did use the photo--along with the current sketch at Freshly Made Sketches--as a jumping off point. My card was inspired by the large spools of twine seen in the photo. In my card, those translated as a much smaller scaled spool of thread.

Sew Much-designed by Lori Tecler-Inking Aloud-stamps from Paper Smooches
I used the thread image from the Needle Little Love set, along with the set’s needle and thimble images. The thread and thimble were colored with Copic markers. The needle was stamped in gray ink for a metallic look. And, I cut out the thimble and used dimensional dots to adhere it to the panel.

I adhered the stamped panel to the right side of a piece of pink chevron patterned paper layered on a pale pink card base. The chevron pattern in the paper is similar to the pattern on the spool of thread, which helps to tie the two elements together. I stamped the sentiment to the left of the image panel using gray ink. To incorporate the twine element that served as my starting point, I threaded a little twine through a pink button and attached the button to the top right side of the image panel.

Materials Used:
