Faux Watercolored Hello

Here’s my card for the current AEI♥U challenge to use watercoloring on your project. I did a faux watercoloring technique to get a watercolored-like look on my card. It may not count for the challenge, but I like how this clean and simple design turned out.

Faux Watercolored Hello-designed by Lori Tecler/Inking Aloud-stamps from Avery ElleI used Avery Elle's Modern Leaves set along with three green dye-based inks and watercolor paper to get my watercolored images. I inked each stamp with a different shade of green ink—Pear Tart for the largest, Bamboo Leaves for the medium size, and Olive Grove for the smallest—then spritzed the inked stamp with water before stamping on the watercolor paper. The effect was a slightly softer image than if I’d stamped the images without wetting them first.

After letting the leaves dry, I stamped the set’s “hello” sentiment on the panel in gold ink, overlapping the leaves just a bit. So that the sentiment would stand out more, I embossed it in gold embossing powder. I accented the image with a trio of green enamel dots. The finished panel was layered on a kraft mat, then adhered to a green card base.

Materials Used:
from i {heart} papers: Avery Elle Modern Leaves stamp set, Memento Pear Tart, Bamboo Leaves, and Olive Grove inks, Studio Calico green enamel dots

Other: Ripe Avocado cardstock (Papertrey Ink); Desert Storm cardstock (Neenah); Delicata Gold ink (Tsukineko); gold embossing powder (Michaels); watercolor paper
