Your Future Is Bright

Here's my card for this week's My Favorite Things Wednesday Stamp Club sketch challenge.  It's been a week or two since I used the Watt's Up? set and coordinating Lightbulb dies, so I pulled them out for the sketch.

Your Future Is Bright card-designed by Lori Tecler/Inking Aloud-stamps and dies from My Favorite Things
I die cut the lightbulb from scraps of yellow and silver cardstock, then assembled the bulb.  It's adhered to a white pierced circle die cut piece using foam tape.  I adhered the circle to a piece of yellow dotted patterned paper.  The paper's been sitting on my desk for a while now and it happened to be just perfect for this card--love when that happens!

I added a contrasting solid gray cardstock panel beneath it, then adhered a pierced fishtail flag die cut stamped with the "your future is bright" sentiment to the panel.  I did a little fancy die cutting with the fishtail flag die to trim the straight edge of the die so that it would fit on my card and still have the cute dot detailing.  Let me know if you'd like me to share a few pictures of how I did that in a future post.  I matted the finished panel on a piece of black cardstock, then adhered it to a yellow card base.  It's kind of bright, but bright works well with the sentiment and image!

Materials Used:
Watt's Up? stamp set, Lemon Drop and Steel Grey cardstock, Die-namics Pierced Circle Stax, Pierced Fishtail Flag Stax, and Lightbulb dies (My Favorite Things); Basic Black cardstock (Stampin' Up!); silver paper (Target); Memento Luxe Tuxedo Black ink (Tsukineko); Soup Staples designer paper (Jillibean Soup); foam tape
