Color Throwdown 423-It's Your Birthday

It's time for another Color Throwdown!  Broni is our hostess for our last color challenge of the year.  She's chosen a festive color combination--red, hot pink, and lime green.

I paired the colors with the current sketch at CAS(e) this Sketch to make a birthday card since my birthday card stash has dwindled.  I used the SugarPea Designs Bring on the Cake set to fashion a cake as the focal image.  I love the wonky shapes of the layers and how they can be used for either a cake or presents--it's so nice when stamp sets pull double duty!  After stamping the cake layers in pigment inks, I used the coordinating Birthday Journal Card die to cut out the layers.  They are arranged on a white scallop edged panel cut with the same journal card die.  I used foam tape and dots of red Liquid Pearls to give the cake layers some dimension. 

The "it's your birthday" sentiment from the Celebrate All the Things stamp set was stamped beneath the cake in red pigment ink.  A few lime green sequins arranged around the cake added a festive sparkle. After matting the panel on hot pink cardstock, I adhered it to a lime green card base to complete the design.
