You're Tops in My Book

Here's my card for the current challenge at The Paper Players.  I paired the sketch with Mama Elephant's Book Worm and Good Reads sets for this sweet, encouraging design.

You're Tops in My Book card-designed by Lori Tecler/Inking Aloud-stamps from Mama Elephant
For the focal image, I stamped the set's panda and open book images, then added a bit of color to the images with Copic markers.  I used my Scan 'n Cut machine to cut out the colored images, then adhered them to a white panel using foam tape.  The "you're tops in my book" sentiment was stamped beneath the images in a teal-y blue ink.  I matted the panel on a piece of coordinating blue cardstock to match the card base I planned to use.  To go with the book theme, I found some letter patterned paper.  I adhered a wide strip of the patterned paper to the left side of the cardfront, then added a contrasting solid red panel on the right side, overlapping the patterned piece.  After adhering a strip of kraft twill across the cardfront, I added the image panel on top to finish the card.

Materials Used:
Book Worm and Good Reads stamp sets (Mama Elephant); Memento Tuxedo Black and Teal Zeal inks (Tsukineko/IMAGINE Crafts); markers (Copic); Pure Poppy and Blue Bayou cardstock (Stampin' Up!); Back to School 6x6 paper pad (Echo Park); twill (Martha Stewart); foam tape

  1. Lori! Just love your little reader! I just finished 100 laminated bookmarks for a children's book project planned at work. I used Mama Elephant sets a lot in making the bookmarks! Thanks so much for joining us at The Paper Players!
