Skating By

Here's my card for the current challenge at CAS Colours and Sketches.  At first look, I wasn't sure how to tackle the sketch, but in the end, I'm happy with my clean and simple take on the layout.

Skating by to Say Hello card-designed by Lori Tecler/Inking Aloud-stamps from Mama Elephant
I made a wintery scene using Mama Elephant's Arctic Penguin stamp set.  I stamped one of the set's skating penguin images and added a bit of color with Copic markers, then used the matching die to cut out the colored image.  The white vellum "ice" has two stitched trails to represent the layout's parallel lines.  I adhered the vellum to the bottom of a light blue card base, then added the penguin image on top using foam tape for dimension.  For the sentiment, I combined elements from the Jolly and Merry and Sunday Sentiments stamp sets, stamping the text in navy ink to the left of the penguin image.  A trio of silver sequin "snowflakes" arranged around the penguin and sentiment completed the design.

Materials Used:
Arctic Penguin, Jolly and Merry, and Sunday Sentiments stamp sets, Arctic Penguin dies (Mama Elephant); Memento Tuxedo Black and Nautical Blue inks (Tsukineko/IMAGINE Crafts); markers (Copic); Spring Rain cardstock (Papertrey Ink); white vellum (The Paper Company); Stitched Trails dies (Lawn Fawn); silver sequins; foam tape
