Happy Birthday with a Bow

Happy Birthday with a Bow card-designed by Lori Tecler/Inking Aloud-dies from Lil' Inker DesignsHere's my card for the current challenge at CAS Colours and Sketches.  As soon as I saw the sketch, I thought of an elegantly wrapped gift, so that's the feel I tried to create on my cardfront.

My "gift box" is a pretty pink card base.  For contrast, I used bright pink cardstock strips as "ribbons," each edged with a narrower strip of silver cardstock for some sparkle and shine.  Instead of stamping a sentiment on the cardfront, the longer strip was die cut with the "happy birthday" border die from Lil' Inker Designs before it was adhered to the cardfront. Every gift needs a bow, so the finishing touch was a die cut mini bow with stitching detail placed just where the two bright pink strips intersect.

Materials Used:
Pale Peony and Raspberry Fizz cardstock (Papertrey Ink); Silver cardstock (Recollections); Happy Birthday Border and mini stitched bow dies (Lil' Inker Designs)
