The theme for this month's Birthday Project at My Favorite Things is cards with elements that move. I knew right away I wanted to use one of the fun images from the Toad-ally Awesome set for my card. It's perfect for a card that incorporates motion!
I colored up one of the frogs (or toads, maybe?) with Copic markers and cut out the colored image with the matching die, then set the image aside to build the background. It started with a panel of dotted aqua patterned paper for the sky that I cut with die set's channel die a few times to form an elongated track where I planned to have the image move up and down. I used the long retired Sunshine die to cut a yellow sunshine for the corner of the panel, then freehand cut some "water" from darker aqua cardstock for the bottom of the panel. The panels were adhered to a dark aqua card base, using foam tape for the water to give the design some dimension. For interest, I added a green die cut lily pad on the water right at the bottom of the track for the image. I attached one of MFT's slider elements to the back of the die cut image and to a long strip of dotted paper, backed with a strip of white cardstock for sturdiness, then placed the slider element inside the track. The image moves up and down when the top of the strip is pushed or pulled. For the sentiment, I stamped the set's "hoppy hoppy" sentiment on an aqua fishtail flag strip, then stamped the word "birthday" from a farm themed freebie set beneath it. The strip was adhered to the bottom left side of the card to give it a birthday theme.Materials Used:
Toad-ally Awesome and Farm freebie stamp sets, Toad-ally Awesome, Fishtail Flag STAX, and Sunshine dies (My Favorite Things); Memento Tuxedo Black ink (Tsukineko/IMAGINE Crafts); markers (Copic); Hawaiian Shores, New Leaf, Aqua Mist, and Lemon Tart cardstock, Aqua Mist patterned paper (Papertrey Ink); foam tape
Really cute card. I love frogs/toads so this one made me smile.
