Be Jolly

Be Jolly card-designed by Lori Tecler/Inking Aloud-stamps and dies from Hello Bluebird
Here's my card for the current Christmas critters themed challenge at Simon Says Stamp.  My holiday critter is one of the cute penguin images from Hello Bluebird's Frosty Friends stamp set.  I colored him up with Copic markers, then used my Scan 'n Cut to cut out the colored image.  For the wintery background, I used the Snowy Sky Scene die, cutting different portions of the die from different colors of cardstock get the star-filled night sky, the snowbank, and the water.  It's hard to see in the photo, but I edged the top of the light blue panel with some silvery Stickles glitter for an ice-like sparkle.

The penguin image was placed on the "water," perched on a patch of ice stamped on shimmery white cardstock.  I stamped the set's "be jolly" speech bubble in red ink for the sentiment.  I used foam tape to position the speech bubble to the right of the image.  Now that I look at it, I think I probably would have been happier with how this turned out if I'd stamped the sentiment in blue.  I thought the contrasting pop of red would be nice, but I think it ended up being kind of distracting...
