You Mean the World to Me

You Mean the World to Me card-designed by Lori Tecler/Inking Aloud-stamps and dies from My Favorite Things
Here's my card for the current My Favorite Things Wednesday Sketch Challenge.  I used the layout for a space themed design, complete with a galaxy background and sequin stars.

My galaxy background was created with several different bright distress inks applied to a cardstock panel.  I covered the bright inks with darker blue and black inks, then flicked some water droplets over the panel to create some depth on the panel. For the focal image, I stamped the earth image from the I Miss Your Hugs stamp set.  The image was cut out with the matching die and positioned on the background using foam tape for dimension.  To represent the layout's other round elements, I used the Lucky Stars die and some gold foil cardstock to cut a bunch of shiny stars.  I arranged the stars around the panel and added a few gold sequins for more sparkle and shine.  The "you mean the world to me" sentiment from the Space Explorer sentiment was stamped in black ink on a green fishtail flag strip.  I nestled the strip in among the stars and accented it with a gold sequin.  The finished panel was adhered to a coordinating purple card base.
