IHP DT Challenge: CASE-ing Kim

For this month’s i {heart} papers DT challenge, we’re celebrating the addition of the Mint Motif collection to the IHP lineup by CASE-ing one of Mint Motif designer Kimberly Crawford’s fabulous creations. I based my card on Kim’s sweet card seen here. I was drawn to the frame element and wanted to duplicate that on my own card.

I started by stamping the cloud stamp from the Mint Motif Very Square stamp set in blue ink on white cardstock. The image is stamped a few times, close together, to form a sort of solid background. This formed the background for my frame. I used oval and scalloped oval Nestabilities to cut a pink scalloped oval frame. After adding grass made with a border punch to the bottom of the frame, I attached it to the stamped sky panel using foam tape. I stamped the bunny image from the Chicken Girl Design Birthday Wishes stamp set on white cardstock and colored it with Copic markers, then carefully cut it out. The bunny’s cute little cottontail is embellished with some Sugar Sparkly Fluff.

I kept the rest of the card simple to keep the framed image front and center. The cardfront is covered with a panel of striped paper from October Afternoon’s Thrift Shop collection. I’d originally planned to add the sentiment to the cloud panel and the bow to the top of the frame like Kim did in her original card, but it just didn’t fit as well on mine, so I made some adjustments. The coordinating “hoppy birthday” sentiment is stamped in black ink on a green strip and a satin bow, made with my Bow Easy, is attached to the end of the panel to dress it up a bit. I used some foam tape to put it in place.

Be sure to stop by the rest of the IHP DT to see how they were inspired by the talented Kimberly Crawford. Here’s where to find them:
