Color Throwdown 821-Thank You Times Three

It's time for another Color Throwdown! Tammy is our hostess this week with a pretty mix of colors inspired by vintage Christmas ornaments--yellow, green, and blue.

Thank You Times Three card-designed by Lori Tecler/Inking Aloud-stamps and dies from Concord & 9th
I paired the colors with the current challenge at The Paper Players for this simple thank you card design. My focal panel is a piece of blue on blue dotted paper with a large die cut "thank you" that incorporates all three of the challenge colors. The large die cut words are adhered to the dotted panel with foam tape, then surrounded with groupings of green enamel dots. For balance, I stamped "thank you, thank you" from Concord & 9th in blue ink on a yellow strip and added it to the dotted panel. After matting the panel on green cardstock, I positioned it on a blue card base with a wide diagonal strip of yellow cardstock stretching from side to side. I'm happy to report that this card is already in the mail to a recipient who generously provided a gift that will help to support the students at my school.

To play along, just create a paper crafted project using these colors as a starting point and add a direct link to your finished project using the linky tool found at the end of this week's CTD post.  As always, if you don’t have exact color matches, something close works just fine. Just be sure that the challenge colors are the dominant ones in your project. And, if you upload your project to an online gallery, use the keyword CTD821. If you upload your projects on social media, go ahead and use the hashtag #ctd821 and #colorthrowdown.  You can find us on Instagram and on Facebook with the username colorthrowdown.  Before you get started, here’s some inspiration from the talented Color Throwdown team.

Color Throwdown 820-Thanks a Latte

It's time for another Color Throwdown! Wanda is our hostess this week with a warm, rustic color mix--amber, rust, and kraft.

Thanks a Latte card-designed by Lori Tecler/Inking Aloud-stamps and dies from SugarPea Designs
I used the colors and the current sketch from Sunday Stamps for a coffee themd thank you card. My focal image is a to go cup created with dies from SugarPea Designs. I used foam tape to adhere the cup to an amber panel with a strip of rust cardstock along the left side. The rust section is edged with a super narrow strip of kraft cardstock that sets the panel off from the rust card base that I adhered the amber panel to. I die cut the word "latte" from kraft cardstock using another SPD die. After placing narrow strips of foam tape on the back of the word, I arranged it on the cardfront, slightly overlapping the to go cup. The "thanks a" sentiment from the Brew-tiful Sentiments set was stamped on a narrow rust cardstock strip using dark brown ink. I placed it on the cardfront, tucking the left edge of the strip under the raised cup and the panel beneath the top letters in the die cut word. A trio of dark brown enamel dots arranged on the left side of the to go cup complete the design.

Color Throwdown 819-Bee Mine

It's time for another Color Throwdown! Vickie is our hostess this week with a great color combination--mustard, red, and slate blue.

Bee Mine card-designed by Lori Tecler/Inking Aloud-stamps and dies from Paper Smooches
I paired the colors with the current challenge at Try Stampin' on Tuesday. My focal image is a bee from the Paper Smooches Giddy Bugs stamp set. The bee was colored with Copic markers and cut out with the matching die. To make a background for the bee, I used PS's Honeycomb die, cut from mustard cardstock and adhered to a slate blue card base. I promise it's slate blue even though it reads more green/gray in the photo! I accented the bee with a pair of red die cut hearts and a clear crystal "flight trail." The "bee mine" sentiment from the Bee Mine stamp set, stamped in rich red ink and matted on coordinating cardstock, completed the design.

Color Throwdown 818-Fall Birthday

It's time for another Color Throwdown! Lynn is our hostess this week with a mix of earthy colors--orange, moss, and cranberry.

Fall Birthday Card-designed by Lori Tecler/Inking Aloud-stamps and dies from Papertrey Ink
I paired the colors with the current challenge from Sketch Saturday to create a fall birthday card. My focal image is a tag cut from kraft cardstock and dressed up with a pair of stamped leaves from Papertrey Ink's Autumn Acorns stamp set at the bottom and a pretty cranberry ribbon at the top. I stamped the "happy birthday" from one of PTI's Keep It Simple sentiment sets on the tag in brown ink before placing it on a cranberry card base topped with a strip of plaid patterned paper.

Color Throwdown 817-Thanks for Sticking Your Neck Out for Me

It's time for another Color Throwdown! I'm this week's challenge hostess and bringing you a warm, earthy color combination--mustard, kraft, and terracotta.

Thanks for Sticking Your Neck Out for Me card-designed by Lori Tecler/Inking Aloud-stamps and dies from My Favorite Things
I paired the colors with the current challenge from The Paper Players for a fun thank you card design. My focal image is a die cut giraffe that I dressed up with Copic marker spots and a pair of black enamel dot eyes. The image was adhered to a cream panel using foam tape for dimension. After matting the round panel on a slightly larger mustard circle matching the giraffe, I adhered it to a mustard card base with kraft and terracotta cardstock panels running from top to bottom. The "thanks for sticking your neck out for me" sentiment from the My Favorite Things Sweet Safari stamp set was stamped at the bottom left of the cardfront to finish the design.

Color Throwdown 816-For Bar

It's time for another Color Throwdown! Today's challenge is a special one in honor of Barbara Anders, one of our challenge team founders, who recently passed away after a battle with cancer. Bar was an amazing lady--not just a talented stamper, but a fabulous friend. We hope you'll join us this week in celebrating our friend.

With Sympathy card-designed by Lori Tecler/Inking Aloud
Here's my design. I used an emboss resist technique, stamping some silhouette florals and embossing them in cream, then layering on a mix of orange and brown distress oxides. After cutting the panel apart and matting each piece on cream cardstock, I arranged them on a kraft card base. The "with sympathy" sentiment was die cut from both cream and kraft cardstock. I layered the pieces, offsetting them slightly for a shadowed look, before adhering them to the cardfront.

Color Throwdown 815-Thankful for a Friend Like You

It's time for another Color Throwdown! Susie is our hostess this week with a great mix of colors--aqua, orange, and green.

Thankful for a Friend Like You card-designed by Lori Tecler/Inking Aloud-stamps and dies from SugarPea Designs
Here's my take on the challenge colors using the layout from TGIF Challenges. I built my design on an aqua card base. I cut three cream panels and matted each on olive green cardstock before placing them vertically along the right side of the cardfront. The top and bottom panel are filled with leaf die cuts created with the Stitched Autumn Icons dies from SugarPea Designs. The middle panel has a pair of stitched pumpkins cut with the same dies. For interest I adhered them with foam tape to add dimension. I stamped "thankful for a friend like you" in orange ink on a cream panel, then matted it on olive cardstock before positioning it on the cardfront overlapping the pumpkin pair.
