Color Throwdown 827-One in a Melon

It's time for another Color Throwdown! It's my turn to be challenge hostess and I've chosen a color combination based on this fun mug--teal, pink, and lime.

You're One in a Melon card-designed by Lori Tecler/Inking Aloud-stamps from Altenew
I paired the colors with the current TGIF Challenge for this bright and cheery fruit themed thank you card. My focal image is a pair of watermelon slides stamped with Altenew's Mod Fruit Bowl stamp set. I arranged the images on a pair of layered rounded banner die cuts, then placed the panels on a lime green card base. The "you're one in a melon" sentiment was stamped on a bold pink fishtail flag strip that I adhered just beneath the melon images.

To play along, just create a paper crafted project using these colors as a starting point and add a direct link to your finished project using the linky tool found at the end of this week's CTD post.  As always, if you don’t have exact color matches, something close works just fine. Just be sure that the challenge colors are the dominant ones in your project. And, if you upload your project to an online gallery, use the keyword CTD827. If you upload your projects on social media, go ahead and use the hashtag #ctd827 and #colorthrowdown.  You can find us on Instagram and on Facebook with the username colorthrowdown.  Before you get started, here’s some inspiration from the talented Color Throwdown team.

Color Throwdown 788-Triangular Hello

It's time for another Color Throwdown! Lynn is our hostess this week with a spring-like mix of colors--pink, green, and yellow.

Triangular Hello card-designed by Lori Tecler/Inking Aloud-stamps and dies from Altenew
I paired the colors with the current challenge from Sunday Stamps to create this clean, graphic design. The triangle images (solid and striped) are from Altenew's Sohcahtoa stamp set. I tried a few arrangements on scrap paper before settling on what you see here, which is a mix of striped and solid triangle images layered together on the top row and just striped triangle images on the bottom row. The green die cut "hello" hides the seam between the triangles so you can't see that they're not absolutely perfectly aligned. A trio of green enamel dots arranged above and below the straight strip that anchors the "hello" adds some interest and variation to the angular design. I matted the stamped panel on yellow cardstock, then adhered it to a green card base matching the die cut sentiment.

To play along, just create a paper crafted project using these colors as a starting point and add a direct link to your finished project using the linky tool found at the end of this week's CTD post.  As always, if you don’t have exact color matches, something close works just fine. Color Throwdown 781-Hello

It's time for another Color Throwdown! Amy Rysavy is our hostess with this floral inspired mix of colors--peach, yellow, and green.

Floral Hello card-designed by Lori Tecler/Inking Aloud-dies from Altenew
I paired the colors with dies from Altenew to make a card with a fresh floral bouquet springing from an envelope. The flower and leaf pieces were die cut from cardstock scraps, then arranged in the envelope diecut. I placed the envelope on a yellow card base over a strip of peach cardstock that edged with a narrow strip of green for contrast. Instead of stamping a sentiment, I die cut the word "hello" from gold foil cardstock. After trimming down the left side of the die cut piece, I placed it on the cardfront, covering the seam between the peach and green strips and slightly overlapping the envelope. Simple, cheerful, and easy to mail, too!

To play along, just create a paper crafted project using these colors as a starting point and add a direct link to your finished project using the linky tool found at the end of this week's CTD post.  As always, if you don’t have exact color matches, something close works just fine. Color Throwdown 770-Leafy Thanks

It's time for another Color Throwdown! Wanda is our hostess this week with a pair of green paired with classic neutrals--white, black, dark green, and yellow green.

Leafy Thanks card-designed by Lori Tecler/Inking Aloud-stamps and dies from Altenew
I paired the colors with the current sketch from Sunday Stamps for this thank you design that's perfect for the current season. My focal image is a leafy branch created with Altenew's Leaf Canopy stamps and dies. It's hard to see in the photo, but the image outline is stamped in dark green ink. I used foam tape to adhere the branch to a green circle. After making a card base from the same green cardstock as I used for the round panel, I added a large yellow green panel at the center of the cardfront and topped it with a wide strip of black cardstock. The "thanks" sentiment from Altenew's Inside and Out: Thanks set was stamped on the black panel in white ink and heat embossed. It ended up looking like the chalkboard in the color swatch photo! The small circle was placed at the lower right of the black strip to complete the design.

To play along, just create a paper crafted project using these colors as a starting point and add a direct link to your finished project using the linky tool found at the end of this week's CTD post.  As always, if you don’t have exact color matches, something close works just fine. Color Throwdown 763-You're Amazing

It's time for another Color Throwdown! Broni is our hostess this week with a great mix of colors--coral, light blue, and navy blue.

You're Amazing card-designed by Lori Tecler/Inking Aloud-stamps and dies from Altenew
I paired the colors with the current challenge at Try Stampin' on Tuesday for this simple encouraging card. My focal image is the large die cut "hello" created with Altenew's Tiny Sentiments: Hello die. I cut the word from coral cardstock and edged the bottom of the die cut with a narrow strip of navy cardstock for contrast before adhering it to the bottom of a white panel. I stamped the "you're amazing" sentiment from the Sentiment Strips set in navy ink on the bottom of the die cut, then added a navy triangle to to the top right corner of the panel. The sentiment panel was placed on a cardfront covered with a light blue patterned panel that I edged with a solid coral cardstock strip. A narrow navy strip serves as a transition between the two panels and adds contrast. I added final pops of navy with a triangle at the lower left corner of the cardfront and a half circle tucked underneath the left side of the sentiment panel.

Color Throwdown 741-Thank You for All You Do

It's time for another Color Throwdown! Amy Rysavy is our hostess this week with a mix of colors perfect for spring--sage green, pink, yellow, and brown.

Thank You for All That You Do card-designed by Lori Tecler/Inking Aloud-stamps and dies from Altenew
I paired the colors with the current sketch from Try Stampin' on Tuesday for this floral thank you card. My florals are from Altenew's Bold Bunch stamp set. I used a variety of Altenew inks and my MISTI to stamp up a bunch of flowers and leaves, then cut out the images with the matching dies. After settling on an arrangement that I liked, I secured the pieces to a sage green panel. The "thank you for all you do" sentiment from the Mini Hibiscus Tea set was a perfect fit for the panel's lower left corner. I stamped the text in brown ink, then added a tiny brown brad to each side of the panel. The panel was adhered to a yellow card base over a trio of pink fishtail flag strips.

And, if you upload your project to an online gallery, use the keyword CTD741.  If you upload your projects on social media, go ahead and use the hashtag #ctd741 and #colorthrowdown.  You can find us on Instagram and on Facebook with the username colorthrowdown.  Before you get started, here’s some inspiration from the talented Color Throwdown team.

Color Throwdown 734-Thinking of You

It's time for another Color Throwdown! Amy Rohl is our hostess this week with a color combination inspired by some St. Patrick's Day sweets--green, cream, and brown.

Thinking of You card-designed by Lori Tecler/Inking Aloud-stamps from Altenew
Here's my card for the challenge using the current layout from Sunday Stamps. I stamped the smaller of the two outline images from Altenew's Leafy Canopy stamp set in brown ink on a cream panel, then stamped the solid image inside the outline in green ink. The panel was matted on brown cardstock, then on a gold panel. I couldn't resist adding gold to these St. Patrick's Day colors! The matted panel was adhered to a green card base. I stamped one of the "thinking of you" sentiments from the Thinking of You set in brown ink on a narrow cream strip, then matted it on a brown strip before layering it on to the bottom of the image panel to finish the design.

Color Throwdown 716-Dahlia Thanks

It's time for another Color Throwdown! Lisa is our hostess with a mix of colors taken from a beautiful bouquet--purple, blush, and sage.

Dahlia Thanks card-designed by Lori Tecler/Inking Aloud-stamps and dies from Altenew

The layout for my design is from the current challenge at The Paper Players. I used the challenge colors along with Altenew's Build-A-Flower: Dahlia stamp and die set to create the pretty flower for my focal image. The die cut flower was positioned at the left corner of a pale blush pink patterned paper panel, using foam tape for dimension. After  matting the panel on coordinating blush cardstock, I placed it in the middle of a sage card base over a purple scalloped cardstock strip. I cut the word "thanks" from the Signature Words die set from the same purple cardstock as I used for the scalloped strip. The die cut word was placed on the patterned panel just to the right of the flower to finish the design.

And, if you upload your project to an online gallery, use the keyword CTD716.  If you upload your projects on social media, go ahead and use the hashtag #ctd716 and #colorthrowdown.  You can find us on Instagram and on Facebook with the username colorthrowdown.  Before you get started, here’s some inspiration from the talented Color Throwdown team and this week's Guest Star Stamper.

Color Throwdown 696-With Deepest Sympathy

It's time for another Color Throwdown! Lisa is our hostess with a classic and earthy neutral plus pop of color combination--kraft, cream, and green.

With Deepest Sympathy card-designed by Lori Tecler/Inking Aloud-stamps and dies from Altenew

The layout for my design is from the current Sunday Stamps challenge. I built my design on a kraft card base. A strip of green cardstock, matted on a cream panel, was adhered to the right side of the cardfront. I cut a piece of cream patterned paper with a green grid pattern on an angle and placed the pieces on the green strip. The patterned piece was topped with a leafy branch stamped with Altenew's Leaf Canopy stamp set and cut out with the matching die. I stamped the "with deepest sympathy" sentiment from the Sentiment Strips stamp set in brown ink on a narrow cream strip. The strip was attached to the cardfront using foam tape for dimension.

Color Throwdown 692-Birthday Wishes

It's time for another Color Throwdown! Barbara is our hostess today with a culinary inspired color combination--lilac, pink, gold, and white.

Birthday Wishes card-designed by Lori Tecler/Inking Aloud-stamps and dies from Altenew

My design is based on the current sketch from Try Stampin' on Tuesday. I represented the layout's trio of round elements with a pair of flowers and a bud-studded gold branch created with Altenew's Bold Bunch stamp set. The pieces were cut out with the matching dies, then arranged on the left side of a shimmery gold fishtail flag strip. The "birthday wishes" sentiment from the Birthday Greetings stamp set was stamped in white pigment ink on the gold die cut, then heat embossed with white embossing powder. I adhered the strip to the left side of a pale pink cardstock panel. The panel was matted on gold paper, then adhered to a white cardfront.

Everything I Am

Here's my card for the current challenge at Freshly Made Sketches. This clean and simple design is going to my mother for Mother's Day today.

I represented the layout's brushstroke background with a pale pink halftone circle from Altenew's Halftone Circles stamp set. The leafy branch is from Altenew's Leaf Canopy stamp set. The image was stamped in moss ink on a lighter moss cardstock, then cut out with the matching die. I used foam tape to place the die cut piece over the halftone image, then stamped the "everything I am you helped me to be" sentiment from the Friends Forever stamp set to the right of the leaf over two lines. The finished panel was adhered to a green card base matching the leaf.

Color Throwdown 689-With Caring Thoughts

It's time for another Color Throwdown! Vickie is our hostess this week with a vibrant color palette--orange, pink, and green.

With Caring Thoughts card-designed by Lori Tecler/Inking Aloud-stamps and dies from Altenew
I paired the colors with Altenew's Bright Blossoms stamp set for a simple thinking of you card. I stamped the flowers in pinks and oranges, then cut them out with the matching dies. I did the same for the leaves, stamping them in shades of green. After settling on a cluster arrangement of the images, I placed them over a wide pink cardstock strip edged with a narrow orange strip positioned near the bottom of a white cardstock panel. The "with caring thoughts" sentiment from the versatile Thinking of You set was stamped beneath the flowers in pink ink. I adhered the panel to a coordinating orange card base.

Color Throwdown 687-You Mean the World to Me

It's time for another Color Throwdown! I'm your hostess this week with a color combination inspired by a homemade Connect Four game--lime green, aqua, and gold. I've seen a lot of Connect Four played this year during my time covering classes for indoor recess, so this image really called to me!

You Mean the World to Me card-designed by Lori Tecler/Inking Aloud-stamps and dies from Altenew
I paired the colors with the current challenge at Sunday Stamps. My focal image is a globe created with Altenew's Big World stamp set. The globe image was stamped with lime and aqua pigment inks. I cut the globe stand from shiny gold foil cardstock. The stand was adhered directly to a lime green card base, then the globe was put in place using foam tape. For the sentiment, I stamped "you mean the" and "to me" in black ink on narrow strips of aqua cardstock. I arranged the strips on the cardfront, with one overlapping the left side of the globe and the other beneath the globe. I die cut the word "world" from aqua cardstock and positioned it between the stamped strips, overlapping the globe on the right side. To finish the design, I framed the globe by placing strips of aqua cardstock with narrow stripes of gold foil cardstock at the top and bottom of the cardfront.

Color Throwdown 686-Thanks a Bunch

It's time for another Color Throwdown! Lisa is our hostess this week with a mix of colors inspired by a sweet succulent arrangement--purple, sage green, and cream.

Thanks a Bunch card-designed by Lori Tecler/Inking Aloud-stamps and dies from Altenew
I paired the colors with a layered floral stamp set from Altenew and the current challenge from The Paper Players for this simple design. I stamped the layered bloom repeatedly in purple inks over a cream panel, then added in small green leaves. The panel was cut in thirds, then matted each piece on green cardstock before adhering them to a purple cardstock panel. The panel was centered on the front of a green card base. For the sentiment, I die cut a large "thanks" from gold foil and purple cardstock. The pieces were layered slightly offset, then adhered over the trio of stamped panels. I stamped the "a bunch" sentiment from Altenew's Halftone Thanks set in green ink on a narrow strip of green cardstock and positioned the strip beneath the die cut word to finish the design.

Color Throwdown 673-Thinking of You

It's time for another Color Throwdown!  Broni is our hostess this week with a floral inspired color palette that's also perfect for seasonal designs--red, pink, and mint green.

Thinking of You card-designed by Lori Tecler/Inking Aloud-stamps and dies from Altenew
I paired the colors with the current challenge at Sunday Stamps and stamps, dies, and inks from Altenew. My focal image is one of the flowers from the Fabulous Florals set. I used my MISTI to line up and stamp the detailed layers of the bloom using pink and red inks. After stamping the leaf cluster in shades of mint ink, I used the matching dies to cut out the images. They were adhered to the left side of a red patterned paper panel using foam tape for dimension. I dressed up the panel with a pink satin ribbon knotted at the bottom and a solid red mat beneath it. The patterned panel was adhered to the right side of a mint green card base. I stamped the simple script "thinking of you" sentiment from the Thinking of You set beneath the leaves in black ink. A pair of gold glitter enamel dots arranged vertically to the left of the flower completed the design.

And, if you upload your project to an online gallery, use the keyword CTD673.  If you upload your projects on social media, go ahead and use the hashtag #ctd673 and #colorthrowdown.  You can find us on Instagram and on Facebook with the username colorthrowdown.  Before you get started, here’s some inspiration from the talented Color Throwdown team and this week's guest star stamper Mac Mable.

Thinking of You

Thinking of You card-designed by Lori Tecler/Inking Aloud-stamps from Altenew
Here's my card for the August inspiration challenge at Altenew. I was inspired by the color scheme and pretty florals in the challenge graphic. I used Altenew's Striped Florals set to create a simple floral arrangement featuring the colors from the graphic. The flowers and leaves were colored with Copic markers, then cut out with my Scan 'n Cut machine. After playing around with a variety of different arrangement for the elements, I settled on what you see here and put the elements in place, using foam tape on some of the pieces to add dimension. One of the "thinking of you" sentiments from the Thinking of You set was stamped to the left of the clustered elements in black ink. I added some silver sequins around the arrangement for a bit of sparkle, then adhered the panel to a coordinating pink card base.

Materials Used:
Striped Florals and Thinking of You stamp sets (Lawn Fawn); Memento Tuxedo Black ink (Tsukineko/IMAGINE Crafts); markers (Copic); Hibiscus Burst cardstock (Papertrey Ink); silver sequins; foam tape

Thanks a Million

Here's my card for Altenew's July Inspiration Challenge. I used the colors from the inspiration photo and Nicole's sketch for this bold, bright thank you card.

Thanks a Million card-designed by Lori Tecler/Inking Aloud-stamps, dies, and stencil from Altenew
I used the Sphere stencil to create a multicolored striped circle for a focal image. To show it off, I used a circle die from the Halftone Circles Nesting die set to cut a window in a hot pink cardstock panel. After framing the opening with a wide silver band also cut with the nesting circle dies, I used foam tape to place the pink panel over the stenciled piece. For the sentiment, I used the Thanks die to cut the large word from purple cardstock and fun foam. I layered the two pieces before positioning them over the stenciled panel. To finish the sentiment I stamped "a million" from the Halftone Thanks stamp set in silver ink on a purple cardstock strip. The text was embossed in silver before I placed the panel at the bottom of the circle. I accented the strip with a trio of white enamel dots, then matted the panel on purple cardstock before placing it on a coordinating pink card base.

Materials Used:
Halftone Thanks stamp set, Sweet Leaf, Pinkalicious, and Wisteria Crisp Inks, Thanks and Halftone Circles Nesting dies, Sphere stencil (Altenew); Delicata Silvery Shimmer ink (Tsukineko/IMAGINE Crafts); Raspberry Fizz cardstock (Papertrey Ink); Lovely Lilac cardstock, Sterling Silver embossing powder (Stampin' Up!); Silver cardstock (Recollections); enamel dots (Eyelet Outlet); fun foam; foam tape

Just Sending a Note

Just Sending a Note card-designed by Lori Tecler/Inking Aloud-stamps and dies from Altenew

Here's my card for the current challenge at CAS Colours and Sketches. As soon as I saw the sketch, I knew it would be perfect for showing off Altenew's Fine Frame dies. I cut the largest frame from gold foil cardstock and adhered the die cut piece to the top of a pale pink card base. The frame was filled in with a dahlia created with the Build-a-Flower: Dahlia stamp set. I used foam tape to position the flower at the middle of the frame, then tucked the green leaves beneath the raised flower image. The set's "just sending a note and a smile to you today" sentiment on the right side of the cardfront in red ink to finish the simple design.

Materials Used:
Build-a-Flower: Dahlia stamp and die set, Pink Pearl, Coral Bliss, Heart Beat, Parrot, and Cloudy Night Crisp Inks, Fine Frame dies (Altenew); Sweet Blush cardstock (Papertrey Ink); Gold Foil cardstock (Recollections); foam tape

Thinking of You

Thinking of You card-designed by Lori Tecler/Inking Aloud-stamps and dies from Altenew

Here's my card for the current challenge at Freshly Made Sketches. I used the layout's large panel to show off one of the pretty poppy images from Altenew's Poppy Fields stamp set. The outline image was stamped in black ink, then filled in with two shades of red ink to get the full detail of the image. The center was stamped with the detail image, then shaded with a gray Copic marker. I used the coordinating die to cut out the colored image, then adhered the image to the top of a green stamped stem using foam tape for dimension. The panel was matted on red cardstock, then on black before it was adhered to a white cardstock panel. I stamped one of the "thinking of you" sentiments from the Thinking of You set in black ink on a red strip. To match the image panel, I matted the strip on black cardstock before I added it to the white panel. The white panel was adhered to a contrasting red card base to match the sentiment strip.

Materials Used:
Poppy Fields stamp and die set, Thinking of You stamp set, Coral Bliss, Heart Beat, Parrot, and Cloudy Night Crisp Inks (Altenew); Versafine Clair Nocturne ink (Tsukineko/IMAGINE Crafts); marker (Copic); Real Red and Basic Black cardstock (Stampin' Up!); foam tape

Color Throwdown 649-Bold Bunch Thank You

It's time for another Color Throwdown! Vickie is our hostess this week with a bold and vibrant mix of colors--purple, blue, green.

Bold Bunch Thank You card-designed by Lori Tecler/Inking Aloud-stamps and dies from Altenew

I paired the bold colors with Altenew's Bold Bunch stamp set. I stamped a pair of flowers in vivid purple ink and a leafy branch in vibrant green, then cut out the images with the coordinating dies. The images were arranged on a turquoise cardstock strip, using foam tape to give the flowers dimension and leaving room to tuck the leafy branch underneath. To bring in the blue to the floral cluster, I stamped the set's tiny branch image in green ink and added the buds (or berries--not sure which these are since flowers really aren't my thing...) in blue. The small image was tucked beneath the flowers opposite of the larger branch for balance. The dressed up strip was adhered to a contrasting white cardstock panel. I added the "thank you" sentiment from the Penned Rose stamp set to the opposite side of the strip in purple ink. The finished panel was adhered to a coordinating green card base.

And, if you upload your project to an online gallery, use the keyword CTD649If you upload your projects on social media, go ahead and use the hashtag #ctd649 and #colorthrowdown.  You can find us on Instagram and on Facebook with the username colorthrowdown.  Before you get started, here’s some inspiration from the talented Color Throwdown team and this week's Guest Star stamper Jennifer Kelly.
