Seize the Sketch 16-Happy Birthday

Here's my card for this week's sketch at Seize the Sketch. In addition to the new sketch, we're also introducing two brand new team members and saying farewell to two team members today, so you'll want to check out all of the details on the STS blog.

Happy Birthday-designed by Lori Tecler-Inking Aloud-stamps and dies from WPlus9
I used the sketch to create a festive birthday card.  I started off by choosing a pair of coordinating patterned papers from Carta Bella's It's a Celebration 6x6 paper pad to cover the cardfront.  Once they were in place, I used the colors from the patterned papers to select the colors for the square panel on the cardfront.  I added the die cut word "happy" to the panel.  The word was die cut twice, once from green cardstock and once from gray cardstock, then layered so the two die cuts were slightly offset, giving the appearance of a shadow beneath the word.  I stamped the word "birthday" from the WPlus9 Whole Lotta' Happy set underneath it in navy pigment ink.  After rounding the panel's corners, I adhered it to the cardfront.  It's accented with a pair of coordinating fishtail flag strips and a trio of green enamel dots.

Be sure to check out what the rest of the STS team has created using this week's sketch.     Here's where to find everyone:

Lori T--you're here!

other:  Green Acres cardstock (WPlus9); Harvest Gold and Smokey Shadow cardstock (Papertrey Ink); Night of Navy cardstock (Stampin' Up!); corner rounder
